Update on new School Quarantine Changes
January 19, 2021
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Last week, Governor Stitt notified schools that COVID Quarantine guidelines for schools had changed. Duncan Public Schools policy is to follow the Health Department mandates, but we did not yet have the policy, so we asked everyone for a little patience as we confirmed information and planned how to address these changes. Thank you for that time.
DPS will follow the new Health Department quarantine changes allowing people to return to school after potential COVID exposure, but we will still provide staff and students the choice to quarantine if they wish to do so. We have identified two options under the new policy for quarantines in schools after potential exposures:
- If determined safe by OSDH, staff/students will be allowed to return after signing a document acknowledging the strict OSDH rules and requirements.
- Staff/students may still choose to quarantine, however, without any negative impact to absences, grades, sick leave, or pay.
