We want to clear the air regarding the fire alarm activated earlier today at Duncan High School. There was NO fire or emergency on campus; the alarm was caused by a system malfunction.
All students and staff followed standard safety procedures, and no one was ever in harm’s way. The technical issue has been addressed. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

October is National Principal Appreciation Month, and today we’re celebrating two people who make Duncan High School stronger every single day: Mrs. Tara Smith and Mr. Rodney Strutton.
Most of what they do, you never see. They’re in the hallways before the first bell and still working long after the last one. They answer the hard questions, handle the tough moments, and make the calls nobody else wants to make. Through all of it, they keep students at the center of every decision.
They celebrate our students’ wins and stand beside them when things get hard. They encourage our teachers and staff, and they hold our school to a high standard because they believe every Demon can reach it. They show up with patience, fairness, and care, even on the days that ask the most of them.

Every high school success story in our halls begins with a foundation built in yours. Before our students ever walk across our graduation stage, they were welcomed at your doors, encouraged in your hallways, and believed in by you.

In a single day, a principal is an instructional leader, a counselor, a coach, a mediator, an event planner, a safety officer, a cheerleader, a problem-solver, and sometimes the person who ties a shoe or dries a tear. They are first through the doors in the morning and often the last to leave at night. They carry the weight of hard decisions, and they do it all with heart.
