💖 Our “Change for Champions” coin drive is off to a great start! Our students are filling up their class jars to support the Cancer Center of Southwest Oklahoma right here in Duncan. 💰 Mrs. Higgins’ class is in the lead, but the week’s not over yet! Keep those coins coming, champions! 🏆✨
📢 Horace Mann Walk to School Day 🚶♂️🚴♀️
Parents and students—mark your calendars! On Thursday, October 9, 2025, we will celebrate Walk to School Day.
👉 Drop-off Location & Time:
• 7:30 – 7:40 a.m. – Parents drop students off at the DRH Cancer Center parking lot (please park behind the Cancer Center on the west end of the lot).
• 7:45 a.m. – The walk/roll to school begins!
• If you arrive after 8:00 a.m. please drop your kids off at Horace Mann

• Promotes healthy physical activity
• Teaches safe walking & biking skills
• Encourages awareness of how walkable and bikeable our community is
• Shows concern for the environment by reducing traffic, congestion, and pollution
• Builds community spirit by sharing time with parents, students, and leaders

4th grade has teamed up with 1st grade for Book Buddies! 📖❤️ Growing readers, leaders, and school community while showing what it means to be Champions of Excellence! ❤️🖤

We are so thankful for our amazing custodians, Ms. Sonya and Ms. Alison, who keep our school clean, safe, and welcoming every single day. Their hard work often happens behind the scenes, but it makes a huge difference in our classrooms, hallways, and school community.

Mrs. Smiley is a phenomenal teacher who pours her heart into her students each and every day. She is not only dedicated to their learning, but also to their growth beyond the curriculum. As a mentor teacher, she supports and inspires her colleagues while always sharing her trademark smile.

🍎🌱 Mrs. McPherson’s class celebrated Johnny Appleseed’s birthday today! We learned all about his life, made our own crockpot applesauce, and even crafted Johnny Appleseed hats. Such a sweet (and tasty!) way to learn! 🍏👒
Mrs. Arrington came to read to Mrs. Smiley’s and Mrs. Higgins’s kindergarten friends, and she made the story come alive! With her festive hat and silly spirit, we were all smiles and giggles.
