Mrs. McPherson’s class has loved having a Cameron student spend time with us! Today, Ms. Ashley led a fun science experiment as we explored a big question: Which works better for bird feeders — peanut butter and bird seed or coconut and bird seed? 🐦 Our students made predictions, got hands-on, and can’t wait to see which feeder our feathered friends like best! Stay tuned for the results! 🌿✨

First day back from spring break and Mrs. Higgins room was full of energy, laughter, and a lot of vacation stories!

📅 Reminder: District-Wide Make-Up Day – Friday, April 3

Duncan Public Schools will be in session on Friday, April 3, for a district-wide make-up day.

All inclement weather days were used during the January snow and ice storm, requiring one additional day to meet state attendance requirements.

We understand this adjustment may cause some inconvenience and sincerely appreciate the flexibility and support of our families and staff.

Our students had so much fun tasting and learning! This exciting program is part of Pathways to a Healthier You, and we are so proud of our brave first graders for giving new foods a try! 👏🥗✨

📚 Book March Madness   How it started vs. how it’s going! First grade is officially in week two of our March Madness: Book Edition, and the excitement is real! The students are loving this tournament-style battle of books as they read, compare, and vote for their favorites. It’s been so fun watching them cheer on their picks and see which stories advance to the next round. 📖🏆 Check back soon to see how our bracket is shaping up and which book will take the championship!

⛈️ Weather Update: Conferences Ending Early

Due to severe weather approaching our area, conferences will end early so teachers can travel home safely before the storm arrives.

Conferences are now closed.

If a new time is needed, please contact your child’s classroom teacher to reschedule.

These first graders had such a great week! They loved talking about all the books they’ve read and were so excited to meet their reading goals. Way to go!

A little Read Across America Week fun! (red, white, and blue day and favorite book characters day) 📖📚

We were honored to welcome Representative Stacy Jo Adams as our guest reader this morning! She shared the inspiring story What Do You Do With an Idea? by Kobi Yamada, a beautiful reminder that even the smallest ideas can grow into something powerful when we nurture them with courage and confidence. We’re so thankful for community leaders who take time to invest in our students and encourage them to dream big, believe in their ideas, and grow into future innovators.

Shoutout to our Student Leadership Council for leading today’s Glow Day Pep Assembly! These students did an incredible job guiding our school and modeling our mission of leadership, service, and spirit— showing that excellence means giving your best and helping others do the same. We’re so proud of the way they stepped up to lead their peers and help our school shine a little brighter! ❤️🖤

Our Student Leadership council issued a challenge this week, and Horace Mann students answered in a big way, reading a total of 39,600 minutes! When our students commit to learning and encouraging one another, our whole school shines brighter. ✨

The gym was glowing today at as we wrapped up Read Across America with a Glow Day Pep Assembly! ✨ Students made the Glow Promise: “I promise to read… I promise to grow… And I promise to GLOW!”
