To show our appreciation, we served up a delicious pizza lunch thanks to the generous donation from Napolis in Marlow, and added a little extra gratitude with gift cards from the amazing folks at Dave’s Cave in Duncan.

Today we got to honor Judy Carroll and her remarkable achievement of retiring after 31 years in education! Mrs. Carroll has spent these last 31 years instilling a love of learning to all students who have had the honor to be in her class. As a staff, she has blessed us in more ways than we could express. Mrs. Carroll has been a pillar of strength at Horace Mann. There is nothing that Mrs. Carroll won’t do or find out to help others in the building! To know Mrs. Carroll is to love her. It’s Staff Appreciation Week at Horace Mann!
Today, we’re celebrating the heart and backbone of our school—our amazing support staff! We DONUT know what we’d do without you! We are beyond grateful for all that you do.
A huge THANK YOU to Daylight Donuts of Duncan for treating our team to fresh donuts, and to Simply Nutrition for generously donating gift cards to help us show our appreciation in a sweet (and healthy) way!
First grade had three more students pass their full sight word rainbow! We are so proud of these students continued hard work!
Miss Hale’s class finished their three-week animal research project. Students began by selecting an animal to study, then conducted research, wrote rough drafts, made revisions, and produced polished final drafts. As a creative extension, each student also created a detailed drawing of their chosen animal. To finish the project, the class took a field trip to the OKC Zoo, where they had the exciting opportunity to see the animals they had studied up close.
These first graders completed their April Reading BINGO Challenge. Great work on becoming better readers. Your teachers are so proud of you! 📚
