With the influx of “Newcomer” students, DPS has grown the services offered their English Language Learners. Newcomer students are students who are new to the country and speak limited or no English. Currently Duncan identifies 280 students as ELL students. The predominant language spoken by these students is Spanish, but there are a total of 18 different languages spoken by Duncan’s ELL students and/or their families. Life in a new country can be challenging and our goal is to make the transition from other countries to DPS as smooth as possible.
