For Current Sophomores & Juniors (Next Year’s Juniors & Seniors Only)
Students & Parents — applications are now open for the Duncan High School Pathways to Future Careers Internship Program for the upcoming school year!
This program gives students the chance to gain real-world, hands-on experience in a career field of interest while still in high school.
What to know:
• Students leave campus for two class periods each day to intern with a local business or organization
• This is a for-credit academic class, not just a release period
• Students attend class weekly and complete reflections and career-readiness assignments
Who can apply?
Students who will be juniors or seniors next year.
Admission is based on readiness and responsibility. Students must:
✔ Maintain C’s or higher in all classes
✔ Have good attendance
✔ Demonstrate positive behavior and dependability
✔ Show maturity in a professional setting
Expectations once accepted:
Students are expected to treat this like a real job — communicate directly with supervisors, be on time, stay engaged, follow dress codes, and maintain strong grades and attendance. Failure to meet expectations may result in removal from the program.
Why this program matters:
Students gain valuable workplace experience, build resumes, develop professional references, explore career paths, and grow in confidence and independence. Many students even build connections that lead to future job opportunities.
How to apply:
1️⃣ Pick up an application
2️⃣ Complete all sections carefully
3️⃣ Turn it in by February 20th
Spots are limited and placements are based on student readiness, interests, and available community partners.
Students with questions should stop by Room 142 to visit Mrs. Prichard.
This program is a privilege and an incredible step toward the future. We’re excited to help students explore careers, grow, and gain real-world experience!

Duncan Public Schools will be in school for a make-up day on Friday, April 3rd.
All inclement weather days were used during the January snow and ice storm, requiring one day to be made up to meet state attendance requirements.
We understand this adjustment may cause some inconvenience and appreciate the flexibility of our families and staff.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

🌟Global Play Day in Pre-K! 🌟
Today, our Pre-K students joined children around the world in celebrating Global Play Day — a day dedicated to the power of unstructured, screen-free play!
From building and creating to exploring and imagining, our youngest learners spent the day discovering new ways to play, connect, and grow together.
Global Play Day began in 2015 and now includes schools from more than 75 countries, all celebrating the importance of creativity, collaboration, and fun in learning.

This isn’t how we hoped to finish the week, but safety has to come first. With temperatures expected to fall below freezing overnight and icy spots likely to return on neighborhood and school roads, Duncan Public Schools will be closed on Friday, January 30th.
Road conditions should improve later in the day, but the morning hours are expected to be difficult for buses, student drivers, and staff. We know this closing may cause challenges for families, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we make decisions with safety in mind.
We look forward to welcoming students and staff back on Monday, ready to start a new week together!

📌 No Virtual Learning
We understand that these decisions can create difficulties for families, and we do not make them lightly. Student and staff safety are our top priority.
Please continue to monitor our social media accounts, the Duncan Public Schools App, and local news outlets for future updates.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Whether your family is bundling up to build snowmen, sledding through the neighborhood, or staying cozy inside and avoiding the snow altogether, we’d love to see how our DPS families are enjoying these snowy days. Share your photos with us and let us see how you’re making the most of the snow!
We also want to send a huge thank you to those working in these winter conditions. Thank you for keeping our community safe during the weather. We appreciate you!
