Late Start on Thursday February 5th, 2026
Classes begin at 9:30am
Due to ongoing repairs by the City of Duncan on a water main break, Duncan High School will operate on a late start schedule on Thursday, February 5, 2026. Classes will begin at 9:30am to allow time for the issue to be resolved. Doors will open for students at 8:45am.
If the water main break is not repaired in time, the day will shift to a virtual learning day for Duncan High School only. Updates will be shared as soon as possible through school communication channels.
Bus Riders: Please plan to be at your bus stop 1.5 hours later than your normal pickup time.
Example: If your normal pickup time is 6:00am, be at your bus stop at 7:30am.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we work through this situation.

🌟Global Play Day in Pre-K! 🌟
Today, our Pre-K students joined children around the world in celebrating Global Play Day — a day dedicated to the power of unstructured, screen-free play!
From building and creating to exploring and imagining, our youngest learners spent the day discovering new ways to play, connect, and grow together.
Global Play Day began in 2015 and now includes schools from more than 75 countries, all celebrating the importance of creativity, collaboration, and fun in learning.

📣 Once Upon a POM Clinic – Performance Date Rescheduled! ✨
Due to an emergency water shutoff at Duncan High School, we will need to reschedule the POM Clinic performance.
The new performance date is Tuesday, February 10th, during halftime of the high school girls basketball game.
We appreciate everyone’s understanding and can’t wait to see our POM Clinic participants shine next week!

Our Pre-K STEM basement has officially reopened and it’s better than ever! This revitalized space is designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and hands-on learning for our youngest learners.

This isn’t how we hoped to finish the week, but safety has to come first. With temperatures expected to fall below freezing overnight and icy spots likely to return on neighborhood and school roads, Duncan Public Schools will be closed on Friday, January 30th.
Road conditions should improve later in the day, but the morning hours are expected to be difficult for buses, student drivers, and staff. We know this closing may cause challenges for families, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we make decisions with safety in mind.
We look forward to welcoming students and staff back on Monday, ready to start a new week together!

📌 No Virtual Learning
We understand that these decisions can create difficulties for families, and we do not make them lightly. Student and staff safety are our top priority.
Please continue to monitor our social media accounts, the Duncan Public Schools App, and local news outlets for future updates.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Whether your family is bundling up to build snowmen, sledding through the neighborhood, or staying cozy inside and avoiding the snow altogether, we’d love to see how our DPS families are enjoying these snowy days. Share your photos with us and let us see how you’re making the most of the snow!
We also want to send a huge thank you to those working in these winter conditions. Thank you for keeping our community safe during the weather. We appreciate you!
