We had a blast celebrating our students’ awesome attendance during state testing with Ice Cream Achievement Day! Their hard work and dedication definitely deserved a cool reward, and what better way than with delicious ice cream? A special shout out to Legacy Bank for sponsoring this fun event—we’re so grateful for your support in making this day extra sweet for our students!

It’s Staff Appreciation Week at Horace Mann! Today, we’re celebrating the heart and backbone of our school—our amazing support staff! We DONUT know what we’d do without you! We are beyond grateful for all that you do. A huge THANK YOU to Daylight Donuts of Duncan for treating our team to fresh donuts, and to Simply Nutrition for generously donating gift cards to help us show our appreciation in a sweet (and healthy) way!

Miss Hale’s class finished their three-week animal research project. Students began by selecting an animal to study, then conducted research, wrote rough drafts, made revisions, and produced polished final drafts. As a creative extension, each student also created a detailed drawing of their chosen animal. To finish the project, the class took a field trip to the OKC Zoo, where they had the exciting opportunity to see the animals they had studied up close.

Miss Hale’s class pictures from the zoo! I want to say a HUGE thank you to the wonderful parents who came to the zoo with us! They provided experiences for students that were not their personal children. I’m always so touched to see my students with face paint, ice cream, extra exhibits or little trinkets that someone else purchased for them! They made sure all of my kids had a memorable day! This teacher heart is so full every year after this trip! Thank you to Miss Kylee and Mrs. Solomon for being my right hand ladies this year and helping with this amazing group of kiddos! ❤️

Miss Hale’s class had a wonderful day at the zoo! Students have been working on animal research. Yesterday they got a chance to see their animal at the zoo! Students first learned from Zookeepers and two animal ambassadors in our educational class! They then spent the day exploring and having fun with their grown ups and friends! 🩵

Mrs. Blevins 1st grade class had a zoo trip to remember! These students have been working so hard on their animal research reports and were excited to see the animals in person. They learned all about animal characteristics in the educational class while getting to touch and see different parts of the animals. Thank you to the parents and chaperones who helped make this trip special. They did a fantastic job capturing great photos! 🦒🦓🐘

First grade students have been learning about growing plants. Thanks to the Duncan Public Schools Foundation, each classroom has an Aerogarden. Students helped water, feed and watch the herbs grow. The students helped grow basil and dill. Students then got to taste Basil butter and learn how to make pickles with dill! It is going to be a hard 2 weeks of waiting to taste the pickles!
